Hello lady golfers, I will be looking to update the blog spot with results weekly in the future. As this is my first posting I'm just familiarising myself with the format etc.
If you have items you would like included in the blog please see me (or if you hear me) on the course and I will be happy to include any suggestions. A suggestion has been to include details/explanations of a golf rule, say once a month ...... let me know and I will find out from the experts and include in the blog.
Looking forward to next Thursday's Christmas Golf day, although I have been advised short Santa skirts will be frowned upon .... ho ho ho .

Golf Course Working Bees
LADIES WANTED
Ladies the men have been having very successful working bees for the last few months and we are reaping the benefit of these. The area under the trees down both sides on the 5th/14th hole for example have been cleaned up so that it is now possible to find our balls easily and help speed up the pace of play.
We need some of our Ladies to volunteer some of their time to uphold our side, the work is not overly strenuous but very satisfying, picking up twigs, weeding gardens etc.
These working bees are now being held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month 8am start in front of the Pro Shop and go for about 2 hours. Breakers puts on a thank you morning tea after the work is done.
Dates are:
2nd and 23rd May 13th and 27th June 11th and 25th July 8th and 22nd August
12th and 26th September 10th and 24th October 14th and 28th November 12th December
This sort of help frees up our Green Staff to enable them to put more time into our Golf Course.
Wayne, Craig and the Boys have been doing a fantastic job with our Course and this is one small way we can acknowledge our appreciation for how good our Course is looking..............

Susan's Rules Corner.
Touching and Rotating Half-Buried Ball in Rough for identification purposes Rule 12-2/2
Q. A ball is half buried in the rough. Having announced her intention in advance to her opponent, marker or fellow-competitor, the player for the purposes of identification touches the ball and rotates it. By so doing she identifies the ball as hers. Is there a penalty?
A. Yes, for touching the ball other than as provided for in Rules (Rule 18-2a) Under Rules 12-2 and 20-1 a ball may be lifted (or touched & rotated) for identification purposes after its position has been MARKED.
If the player had MARKED the position before rotating it, there would be no penalty, assuming the rotating did not result in the ball being cleaned beyond the extent necessary to identify it.
So ladies please make sure you put a MARKER down before touching and rotating or else its a 1stroke penalty.

Good Luck to all our Pennants Players this Monday
Clarification of Drop Zone on 9th/18th
Drop Zones on either side of Green are for balls that enter hazards from Drop Zones forward towards green and behind green. Not for Balls that enter hazards coming up to drop zones, there you use the normal rules. ie. 2 club lenghts from where ball last entered hazard, go back and hit from where you hit that ball, go back as far as you like keeping the place you entered and the flag in line (this one is a bit hard to do on the 9/18th.
3Ball Better Ball Par competition is coming up 31st May. So start organising a team and think about paying the extra $5 each so you have a chance of going through to the district. The more teams that enter the more teams we get to send to the district.....anyone can win and this shows in the fact that each year we are sending different teams along.
Also the Wednesday Knockout series is starting soon so keep listening for when you need to put your names down. This is a great way to improve your golf as it is a one on one competition, also good experience for getting a feel for what Pennants Play is like. The more ladies that take part in it the better the competition.

Thursday 22nd March Par Game
Unfortunately the weather and greens added to an average scoring game for all
1st Div Winner Aiki Harrigan -4 c/b R/U Dianne Connolly -4
2nd Div Winner Cheryl Ledger -3 R/U Dee Barham -4 c/b
3rd Div Winner Janice Hoban -5 c/b R/U Linda Hough
Well done ladies in very trying conditions.
Rule Clarification. Hole 6/15th the only area deemed a path is to the side of the actual tee area. The dirt leading away from the Tee is not a path as it is not bordered.
Local Rule on the back of the card is that paths must be bordered to be classified as paths, the other Local Rule is paths defined by blue metal as on the path from 8th to 9th hole and 7th to 8th ladies tee. Always read the local rules board at the Pro Shop and always read the local rules on the back of score cards at our Club and when you play away.
Rule Clarification. Hole 4 If when teeing off and your ball enters the creek and flies up the creek and stays in the creek then the place to re hit is where it first entered the hazard (red pegs) and this is quite often either back at the Tee or just by the path.....you can use the arc rule and drop on the other side of the creek no nearer the hole. It is not where it came to land, it is always where it last crossed the hazard and if it follows the creek up then the last place it crossed was down near the tee area. Sorry but that is the rule.
Good luck to all for the Foursomes Championships on 29th March.....

Toukley Ladies Golf 2 day Competiton
It was fabulous to see so many of our Ladies taking part in Toukley's 2 day competition. Great weather and good course added to a great 2 days.
Cheryl Baker won a straightest drive for 1st Div and quite a few ladies won balls
I think Ann thought she would see if dressing like Ian Poulter might help her golf
nothing like matching your shoes to the colour of your outfit..........Go Girl

Hawkes Nest and Bowral Trips
A Large contingent of our Lady golfers went visiting, one group to Hawkes Nest for their 2 day Competition and another group to Bowral for Golf NSW Summer meeting.
The Hawkes Nest Ladies had a wonderful time competing over the 2 days, information to hand at present says Kerry Mc Inerney came 4th on the first day and Viv Ball won a nearest the pin
Photos curtesy of Carole Mallyon
The ladies that went to Bowral had a great few days but due to the weather down south the competition was cancelled. Highlands Golf Club at Mittagong was the only course open and they put on a competition for us but please......... don't ask how we went, slipping and sliding in all the mud.

15th March, Next Thursday's comp
Ladies, due to the rain washing out our Stableford, 1st District Brooch last thursday, we will now run a Single Stableford 1st Dist Brooch, inconjunction with the Team event on 15th March, 2012
Our 1st Hole is back in play it is COMPULSORY TEE UP on the new area. That means that you MUST tee up if you don't apart from wrecking the new work it is a 2 STROKE PENALTY
Also there has been some confusion regarding our bridges, on our course they are all an integeral part of the course and all bridges are in the hazard, according to the colour pegs around the water eg: red or yellow, so you can hit off the bridge if you wish, you may ground your club on a construction in a hazard, rule (13.4 note) or you may take a penalty and drop according to the rules applying to the appropriate colour peg. You are also able to call any ball unplayable, take a penalty and play according to your rules book or little card with simplified rules.
Another peculiar query came up the other day, I putted my ball into the hole on the green before my partner had retrieved her ball, as she was filling in the nearest the pin. It was thought by one of the partners that this was a penalty, but after referring to the rule book and then with Joan O'Connell, our Rules guru, it is not a penalty, although not advised as the ball may jump out again when hitting the first ball and this would incur another stroke to get it back in the hole.

3rd Runner Up with a score of 84 was Judi Eaton, Cheryl Ledger, Michelle Collyer and Nicky Draper
Well done to all
Lovely to see some familiar faces that have been missing for some time back and also some new faces.
We used our new course and some of the holes were a bit of a challenge, made us think a bit about what club to hit but overall I feel the ladies enjoyed the difference, this course will be used for some more of our team events and with a bit of tweaking of the indexes may eventually come into play for our 1st division for some of their games.
Work on the 1st hole is coming along nicely and hopefully will put an end to the mud we get on that hole when it rains. Our Greens staff and Club management are very keen to do as much as possible to make our course a first rate facility so please ladies do your bit to keep it looking good by making sure you use your sand buckets for divots on the fairways and repair greens with pitch repairers, also make sure we respect the gardens by not walking through them.
Lets all hope the good weather keeps coming so we can have a fantastic year of golf
Winning Team with score of 89 was Margaret Day, June Flay, Nareda Leary and Dianne Connolly

16th February, 2012
I hope everyone is looking forward to the start of our 2012 competition, don't forget it is a 7 for 7.30am shotgun start.
A big thank you to Nicki and Charles in our Pro Shop for running our Summer Comp, they have done a great job and I hope everyone has been very appreciative of the effort and time they have put into giving our ladies a competition to participate in over the summer.
A big thank you to Molly and her off sider Jenny for running our Match Play competition on Mondays in January. A lot of our ladies took part and it is a good lead into taking part in Pennants. Well Done

Welcome to 2012
Welcome Ladies to 2012. Our year starts on February 16th with a 7am for 7.30am Shotgun start to our Open Day Team of 4 stableford 2 scores to count. The timesheet for this will open 2 weeks prior on 2nd February, so start organising a team or just put your name down and see who you play with.
On your first day back those wishing to take part in the CCWGA Open day at Toukley, Toukleys 2 day Competition or Wyong Classic will need to see Moya Allen ( Outside Events ) to sign up and PAY as the closing date will be 16th February for Terrigal as she will have to send the entries away, after this day if you wish to enter you will have to organise your entry personally with the appropriate club.
Also ladies wishing to enter away games that are for teams - please organise your team and collect monies from each member before seeing Moya. Moya does a great job with the away events, but it is up to each member to make sure when they fill in an away event that they also pay the money then, so Moya does not have to chase for the money.
Our Continuous Competition starts with the Stroke round in March. Continuous comp fee is $15.00. This covers entry into continuous events and special events. These incluude the WGNSW Medal, the Internations Bowl and the District Brooch, Weekly scores in all yearly and special events, these are the awards handed out at our Presentation Day and you never know when you will win, you have to be in it to win. Some of the awards are Best 4 Nett rounds on Stroke days, Best 4 Stableford Rounds, Best 4 Par Rounds, Best 4 Putting Rounds, Gobblers, Eclectic WGNSW Medal best 3 Nett Scores from 6 WGNSW Stroke rounds CCWGA Brooch - Best 3 Stableford Rounds from 5 plus others
so there are lots of chances and even if you aren't able to play each week you could still be a winner with the best 3 or 4 rounds over the year.
We also ask members for a $10 donation towards our weekly prizes. This allows us to give better prizes each week to our members. Each time a member wins and is handed the Blue Prize slip along with the voucher, you will find the name of a member who has donated.
There have been changes to a few of the Golf rules and on the opening day we will be handing everyone a new rule book please keep these in your golf bags so they can be referred to when needed.
If you do have a problem with a rule when playing and it cannot be resolved please play 2 balls, record both scores on that hole and see one of the committee when you come in to resolve the rule.
Our course is looking great, hope this rain does not last too long and helps not hinders our course.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on 16th
